The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group held a webinar on April 3rd, inviting Chinese cities to share their responses to the COVID-19 outbreak. Themes included medical response, virus control and economic recovery.

Three Chinese cities including Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing participated in the webinar and presented their cases. The meeting attracted about 150 representatives from 42 member cities, including Madrid, London, Paris and New York.

Tang Xiaoping shed light onto strategies that Guangzhou adopted in such fields as policy, public participation, strict prevention and control, medical treatment and disclosure of information.
Thus far, Guangzhou has been strengthening its approach to screening and control of suspected cases. It’s also working to help more people to get back to a normal way of life. Guangzhou is ready to share its experience and cooperate with its global counterparts.
Mark Watts, C40 Executive Director, praised Guangzhou’s efforts and achievements during the epidemic, and believes studying China’s response to the virus will help member cities to control the outbreak more effectively.
The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) is a group of 96 cities around the world that represents one twelfth of the world's population and one quarter of the global economy. It focuses on tackling climate change and driving urban action that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and climate risks, while increasing the health, well-being and economic opportunities of urban citizens.
Guangzhou joined the C40 in 2015.
