Two medical workers of the Guangzhou No.8 People's Hospital received positive results in nucleic acid test on June 11 and were diagnosed as confirmed COVID-19 cases the next day.

They are the staff in pathology department and emergency department of the hospital, a designated hospital for COVID-19 treatment and isolation in Guangzhou. And both of them are in isolation with treatment.

According to virus gene sequencing and epidemiological investigation, it is inferred that the two staff members might have been exposed to infection accidentally.

The Guangzhou No.8 People's Hospital has taken strict epidemic control measures for all medical staff, with close management at the designated hotels. Nucleic acid tests have been conducted for the hospital's staff and environment, with results all showed negative. A total of 373,668 samples have been collected from the hospital's three nearby streets, also are all negative.
