The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre of of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government published a notice at 20:31 on October 5, 2021, which states that nucleic acid 'negative' test result issued no more than 24 hours earlier to be required in order to leave Macao.

The following is the full text of the notice:

Individuals wishing to enter any boundary crossing checkpoint building in Macao, intending to leave the city, will after the stroke of midnight on 6 October be required to present a nucleic acid test certificate – issued within 24 hours of intended departure – proving they are 'negative' for COVID-19 infection.

The latest step shows the Macao Special Administrative Region Government is highly responsible in terms of preventing any risk of the virus passing from Macao to other cities.

The new measure is contained in Executive Order 144/2021 published today in the Macao SAR Gazette.

According to the Executive Order, the Health Bureau has the authority to exempt certain people from abiding with the measure. Those eligible for exemption include: people dealing with matters serving Macao's public interest, particularly ones relating to disease prevention and control, and emergency rescue; those ensuring the proper operation of public services in the community; and those involved with meeting the basic day-to-day needs of the Macao public.

Macao reports one new COVID-19 case, tightens epidemic control

China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Tuesday reported one new confirmed case of COVID-19, bringing the total tally to 75.

According to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center of Macao, the new case was a 42-year-old woman of Vietnamese nationality who had worked together with the three cases reported on Monday.

Epidemiologists found that the 74th case had taken the same bus at the same time with the 66th case confirmed in late September.

Macao started its third round of mass testing late on Monday. In 24 hours, nearly 360,000 samples were collected and over 202,000 test results came out negative, the center said.

From Tuesday to Thursday, civil servants are suspended from work. Certain public services will remain in normal operation, according to the SAR government.

Starting on Wednesday, some recreational facilities in Macao will be closed, including cinemas, theaters, indoor amusement parks and gyms, according to the Government Information Bureau.
