On December 23, the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC held a press conference to brief the 15th Plenary Session of the 12th CPC Provincial Committee (15th Plenary Session) which was held in Guangzhou on December 21 to 22. It is also the first press conference held by the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC.

According to Chen Jianwen, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC, and the Director General of the Publicity Department of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC, the 15th Plenary Session has implemented the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the Central Economic Work Conference, reviewed the province's main achievements in 2021 and set work plan for 2022. 

According to the 15th Plenary session, 2021 is an important year in the history of Guangdong's reform and development. Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee, Guangdong and the rest of the whole country has won the fight against poverty and has built a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and has achieved a good start during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

2021 also marks a year for Guangdong to achieve high quality development. Guangdong has promoted the reform and opening-up with the development of the Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin and the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone.

The province has started to build a strategic fulcrum for the new development pattern, made significant progresses in building a technological and industrial innovation highland with global influence. The development of urban and rural areas became more coordinated and balanced, the development of a strong cultural province was also promoted, and the people's livelihood was guaranteed effectively.

The 15th Plenary Session has also made comprehensive work arrangements for 2022 in five aspects.

The province will comprehensively deepen reform and opening-up with the development of Hengqin and Qianhai cooperation zone; to boost economic circulation and further build a strategic fulcrum for the new development pattern; to promote the coordinated progress in urban-rural, regional, material and cultural-ethical terms; to safeguard and improve people's livelihood; to coordinate development and safety in a higher level.

The 15th Plenary Session also deliberated and adopted the resolution that the 13th CPC Guangdong Provincial Congress will be held in Guangzhou in May, 2022.
