At around 3:30 pm, metro staff were cleaning the station and checking the equipment, and there were no injuries as of now, according to the Guangzhou Metro's official Weibo account.
Guangzhou metro said on its Weibo account at 4:41pm that the metro station was flooded due to the collapse of a small area of the retention wall at a scheduled entrance/exit which is under construction, and water swarmed into the station through the passageway.

Currently, the Huangcun-Suyuan section of Line 21 has been reconnected by buses. Passengers in urgent need can switch to other transport means.
