Established on June 23, 1956, Dinghu Mountain in Guangdong’s Zhaoqing is China’s first National Natural Reserve, reputed as the Emerald on the Tropic of Cancer for its biodiversity. Now let’s have a look at fantastic wild creatures there.
Various wild animals
Pleasant climate and luxuriant vegetation make Dinghu Mountain a paradise for wild animals. Statistics show that the mountain is the habitat of 260 kinds of birds, 41 kinds of other beasts, 54 kinds of reptiles, 23 species of amphibians, and 715 different insects.
Among them, 35 kinds are under state conservation, including the ciconia nigra, python, manis pentadactyla, viverricula indica and lutra. Let’s see some interesting pictures of wild animals taken in the forests!

Covering an area of merely 1133 hectares, Dinghu Mountain National Natural Reserve is home to 1778 types of wild higher plants, accounting for one third of Guangdong’s higher plant species, with monsoonal evergreen broad-leaf forest taking a major proportion. As for microorganisms, the reserve breeds 836 kinds of fungi, taking up 70% of Guangdong’s total.
