On December 16, as the main arterial road connecting the western Guangdong with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Yangmao Expressway has been transformed into an 8-lane dual carriageway.

The expansive sections of Yangmao Expressway start at Baisha Street, Jiangcheng District, Yangjiang City, and end at Guanzhu Town, Dianbai District, Maoming City, with a total length of 79.76 kilometers. After the expansion, the width of the highway's roadbed has been increased from 28 meters to 42 meters, and the traffic speed is 120 kilometers per hour.

For traffic safety, the middle zone of Yangmao Expressway has also been transformed into a concrete guardrail to prevent vehicles from crossing the guardrail due to accidents. In addition, a road video event detection system is also installed on the expressway so abnormal conditions can be detected automatically.

"I have just delivered goods from Maoming, and I feel that the traffic on the expressway is very smooth, and the transportation time took half an hour less." A freight driver said when he exited the expressway via Yangxi Station.

At present, the Yangmao Expressway connects Yangjiang and Maoming, with an average daily traffic volume of nearly 50,000, and the peak traffic volume can reach approximately 135,000.

It is worth mentioning that there are many tourist attractions along the Yangmao Expressway, especially hot springs, the ocean and islands. Through this highway, citizens can easily travel to the salt water mine hot springs, Fangji Island, and the romantic coast.
