Recently, the International Swimming Federation (FINA) handed out its 2021 best-of awards. Xie Siyi, a diving athlete from Shantou, Guangdong, won the diving award of the year. This is the second time that Xie Siyi has received this honor since 2019. The other diver who won this honor was Shi Tingmao, a diving athlete from Chongqing.

FINA honors and rewards individuals or organisations within or outside FINA who have contributed to the activities and development of the FINA disciplines either in the national or international spheres.

In the past year, Xie Siyi has achieved excellent results in competitions. He won the men's 3-meter springboard singles and men's 3-meter springboard double gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics, becoming the first person to win the three big events, the Olympics, the World Cup, and the World Championships in the men's 3-meter springboard disciplines.

In the 14th National Games, Xie Siyi also won three gold medals in the men's diving team, 3-meter singles, and 3-meter doubles respectively.

Since September, Xie Siyi has become the image ambassador of the Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games.
