China and the America joined forces at the 2021 World Table Tennis Championships with two pairs formed of both American and Chinese players entering the mixed doubles competition on the year marking the 50th anniversary of Ping Pong Diplomacy.
China's Lin Gaoyuan, the men's singles fifth seed, has paired with American paddler Lily Zhang. Lin Gaoyuan is from Guangdong. At the National Games held this year, Lin Gaoyuan was one of the athletes who represented Guangdong to win the gold medal in the men's table tennis event. Lin said that it is a great honor to represent the Chinese team to form a multinational mixed doubles team with the American players to.
Lin said that although there were a lot of problems with Lily Zhang in the first training, he believed that the communication was still very smooth. "We will become more in harmony in the subsequent games."
