The ‘Dutch Days’ event that consists of art exhibitions, concerts and themed events on horticulture is being held in Guangzhou and Foshan by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Guangzhou from April 25th until May 12th, 2019.

The events include a Sino-Dutch Art Exchange exhibition, art talks, workshops, six concerts, a florists workshop, and a lecture and seminar on horticulture and sustainability. All the events will be presented by Dutch and Chinese experts and professionals, aiming to showcase Dutch excellence in creativity and business.

Sino-Dutch Art Exhibition and Concerts

Starting from April 25th, over ten local artists in Foshan are working on a project with Dutch artists Maartje Folkeringa (ceramic artist), Sander van Deurzen and Nathalie Mannaerts, which will be followed by a joint exhibition showcasing their creations at the Foshan Zumiao Museum. At the opening of the exhibition, there will also be a concert given by Dutch musicians Wilmar de Visser (double bass), Andre Heuvelman (trumpet), Henry Kelder (piano) and Chinese flutist Yu Zhanyou.

In addition to the art exhibition, there will be lectures, talks and workshops given by Dutch and Chinese artists. The aforementioned Dutch musicians will give concerts in different ensembles across a variety of venues in Foshan.

Flower Flows: Connecting the flowers and eco-design

The ‘Flower Flows’ events aim to enlighten the public on Dutch circular development models and concepts into the world renowned horticultural industry. A group of Dutch and Chinese designers and specialists will instruct the public on the different parts of the flower supply chain and on resource utilization in planting, distribution and consumption phase.

Flower Matters: Dutch florist talk and workshop

At this workshop, a florist from the Netherlands will be invited to demonstrate how to create floral art. Mrs. Marjo Crompvoets, Consul General of the Netherlands in Guangzhou, will be joined by 50 local families in creating a beautiful flower piece in celebration of Mother’s Day. This event will not only be a chance to experience floristry, but also an opportunity to learn more about the Netherlands as a flower nation and its history and culture.
