On June 11, Guangdong reported 8 new locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, all reported by Guangzhou.

The province had 2 more imported confirmed cases on the same day, one reported by Guangzhou from the Niger and one by Shenzhen from South Africa.

In addition, 2 more previously imported asymptomatic cases were diagnosed as confirmed cases yesterday, reported by Guangzhou from Cambodia and by Zhongshan from the United Arab Emirates respectively.

The province also reported 10 new imported asymptomatic cases, 4 reported by Guangzhou from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Libya and Zambia, 4 by Shenzhen from South Africa and Thailand, 1 by Dongguan from Maldives, and 1 by Zhaoqing from Mozambique.

As of June 11, Guangdong had reported a total of 2,605 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,065 imported cases.

Update on COVID-19 cases and vaccination in Guangzhou

As of June 11, Guangzhou has administered 14.4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine for 10.61 million people, 3.8 million of whom have received two doses.

All 8 cases in Guangzhou were detected from key population screening at the designated quarantine hotel, and have been transferred to the Guangzhou No.8 People's Hospital for quarantine and treatment.

Confirmed Case No.1: Female, 45 years old, lives Zhujiang Xi 1st Road, Zhujiang Street, Nansha District (南沙区珠江街道珠江西一路), a secondary close contact of two confirmed cases on June 5.

Confirmed Case No.2: Female, 67 years old, lives in Lane 6, Heyuan Zhong Road, Baihedong Street, Liwan District (荔湾区白鹤洞街道鹤园中路六巷), a close contact of two confirmed cases on June 6.

Confirmed Case No.3: Female, 44 years old, lives in East Lane 13, Heyuan Dong, Baihedong Street, Liwan District (荔湾区白鹤洞街道鹤园东十三巷), a close contact of one confirmed case on June 7.

Confirmed Case No.4: Male, 15 years old, lives in East Lane 13, Heyuan Dong, Baihedong Street, Liwan District (荔湾区白鹤洞街道鹤园东十三巷), a close contact of one confirmed case on June 7.

Confirmed Case No.5: Male, 13 years old, lives in East Lane 13, Heyuan Dong, Baihedong Street, Liwan District (荔湾区白鹤洞街道鹤园东十三巷), a close contact of one confirmed case on June 7.

Confirmed Case No.6: Female, 71 years old, lives in East Lane 13, Heyuan Dong, Baihedong Street, Liwan District (荔湾区白鹤洞街道鹤园东十三巷), a close contact of one confirmed case on June 8.

Confirmed Case No.7: Female, 10 years old, lives in East Lane 13, Heyuan Dong, Baihedong Street, Liwan District (荔湾区白鹤洞街道鹤园东十三巷), a close contact of four confirmed cases on June 8.

Confirmed Case No.8: Female, 43 years old, lives in Hedong Road, Baihedong Street, Liwan District (荔湾区白鹤洞街道鹤洞路), detected from key population screening.

So far, 155 close contacts of these cases have been isolated for medical observation, and all related areas have been disinfected.

Imported COVID-19 cases reported in Guangzhou on June 11

Imported confirmed case: Male, 56 years old, departed from the Niger on May 23 by flight TK541 and TK72, arrived in Guangzhou on May 26.

Imported asymptomatic case No. 1: Male, 34 years old, departed from Libya on May 23 by flight 8U970 and TK72, arrived in Guangzhou on May 26.

Imported asymptomatic case No. 2: Female, 22 years old, departed from Cambodia on May 27 by flight K6668, arrived in Guangzhou on the same day.

Imported asymptomatic case No. 3: Female, 43 years old, departed from Bangladesh on May 29 by flight BS325, arrived in Guangzhou on May 30.

Imported asymptomatic case No. 4: Female, 28 years old, departed from Zambia on June 2 by flight EK714 and EK362, arrived in Guangzhou on June 5.

All these cases have all been transferred to the Guangzhou No.8 People's Hospital for isolation and treatment after receiving a positive result in nucleic acid test for COVID-19.
