Arrivals need to declare health condition

“Guangdong has reported no local cases, while imported cases have become main part of newly confirmed cases since March 6th,” said Zhou Zixiao, Deputy Director-General of the Health Commission of Guangdong Province.

As of March 15th, the province had reported 11 imported cases in total. Among them, 6 cases in Shenzhen, 2 in Zhongshan and 1 each in Guangzhou, Dongguan and Foshan respectively. The confirmed cases mainly came from Spain, the Philippines, France, Switzerland, Thailand, and UK.

“Situated near to Hong Kong and Macao, Guangdong is a significant port and transit center. Therefore, the chance of imported cases leads to a greater risk”, Zhou said. She also warned that people heading outbound need to know the epidemic control measures in place of the destination country and exercise caution.

Those who arrive Guangdong also need to protect themselves, declare their health status, and accept quarantine measures.

Jiangmen recommends overseas Chinese paying ‘Cloud Tribute’ to ancestors

The Tomb-sweeping Festival is approaching. Jiangmen, a well-known hometown for overseas Chinese, sees more than 4 million of their former citizens living across 107 countries and regions around the world.

Thousands upon thousands of overseas Chinese usually return to Jiangmen to hold memorial ceremonies for ancestors, which clearly poses a great risk this year. As of March 15th, Jiangmen sent announcements to more than 300 overseas communities, suggesting that they hold memorial ceremonies wherever they are currently residing.

Volunteer translation services now cover the city’s 3 districts, 4 county-level cites and 76 towns (streets). If arrivals in Jiangmen are under home-quarantine, communities will make arrangements to provide necessary services.

Those who have already returned to Jiangmen from abroad, and are not sure if they should receive testing for the virus, can dial 12345 for guidance and support from professionals.
