Guangdong has 11 new locally confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 2 new local asymptomatic carriers on May 31, all reported by Guangzhou.

Yesterday, the province reported 2 new imported confirmed COVID-19 cases, with one reported by Guangzhou from Cambodia and one by Foshan from the USA, respectively. The province also reported 8 imported asymptomatic cases in Guangzhou, including 2 from the United Arab Emirates, and the other 6 from the USA, Chad, Oman, Philippines, Cambodia and Papua New Guinea .

All these imported cases were detected during the province's closed-loop management at entry ports and have been transferred to the Guangzhou No.8 People's Hospital for isolation and treatment.

As of May 31, Guangdong had reported a total of 2,468 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,035 imported ones.

Updates on COVID-19 cases in Guangzhou on May 31

On May 31, Guangzhou reported 11 new locally confirmed cases of COVID-19 (including one previous asymptomatic case) and 2 new local asymptomatic carriers.

One asymptomatic case reported previously was diagnosed as a confirmed case of COVID-19 on May 31 in Guangzhou following the results of chest CT scans and expert consultation during his treatment at the Guangzhou No.8 People's Hospital.

Below is the detailed information of the other 10 new locally confirmed cases.

Case No. 1: Female, 75 years old, lives in Chigang Xiyue, Hainan Village, Liwan District (荔湾区海南村赤岗西约), a close contact of an asymptomatic case reported on May 28.

Case No. 2: Male, 26 years old, lives in Chigang Xiyue, Hainan Village, Liwan District (荔湾区海南村赤岗西约), a close contact of an asymptomatic case reported on May 29.

Case No. 3: Female, 39 years old, lives in Lane 12, Heyuan West, Liwan District (荔湾区鹤园西十二巷), a close contact of an asymptomatic case reported on May 29.

Case No. 4: Female, 84 years old, lives in Lane 5, Guanhe Xiaoqu, Liwan District (荔湾区观鹤小区五巷).

Case No. 5: Male, 85 years old, lives in Lane 5, Guanhe Xiaoqu, Liwan District (荔湾区观鹤小区五巷), detected from key population screening.

Case No. 6: Male, 23 years old, lives in Lane 5, Guanhe Xiaoqu, Liwan District (荔湾区观鹤小区五巷).

Case No. 7: Male, 64 years old, lives in Lane 3, Guanhe Xiaoqu, Liwan District (荔湾区观鹤小区三巷), detected from key population screening.

Case No. 8: Female, 44 years old, lives in Lane 1, Guanhe Xiaoqu, Liwan District (荔湾区观鹤小区一巷), detected from key population screening.

Case No. 9: Female, 16 years old, lives in Lane 1, Guanhe Xiaoqu, Liwan District (荔湾区观鹤小区一巷).

Case No. 10: Female, 58 years old, lives in Shanding Lane 3, Hexiang Road, Liwan District (荔湾区鹤翔路山顶三巷).

Two asymptomatic cases, both female, 7 years old and 59 years old, live in Chigang Dongyue Hainan Village (海南村赤岗东约) and Lane 3, Guanhe Xiaoqu (观鹤小区三巷) in Liwan District respectively.

All the above cases were detected from key population screening, and have been transferred to the Guangzhou No.8 People's Hospital for quarantine and treatment.

Up to now, a total of 129 close contacts of the above cases have been identified and put under quarantine for medical observation. All related residence and venues have been disinfected.
