From November to February each year, it is an excellent time for bird watching in Guangdong. As the largest wetland in Guangzhou, Nansha Wetland is one of the important migration routes for migratory birds. This year, 134 species of birds have been monitored in the Nansha Wetland. Nearly 100,000 migratory birds will live in the Wetland for the winter, accounting for more than 50% of the total number of migratory birds in Guangzhou. Among these migratory birds, there are also some national first-level protected animals, such as white-tailed sea eagles and black-faced spoonbills.

In November, Shenzhen Bay, Zhanjiang mangroves, the coastline of Leizhou Peninsula and Huizhou Daya Bay attracted a large number of migratory birds to spend their winter time here. It is worth mentioning that there are more than 30 Chinese national first-class protected birds including the Chinese Merganser, inhabiting the Nanshui Lake Reservoir in Shaoguan. There is also a record for the largest number of Chinese goosanders overwintering in Guangdong in the past ten years.
