At 12:03 a.m. of October 21, an Airbus A320 aircraft of China Southern Airline landed smoothly on Zhanjiang Wuchuan Airport, marking the success of the airport's field verification test and a critical step towards opening.
Located in west Guangdong, Zhanjiang Wuchuan Airport is positioned as a domestic trunk airport, capable of taking off and landing Boeing 777, 747, 787, Airbus 330, 350, and so on. It also can operate direct flights to Europe or the US.
By now, a 3200-meter-long runaway and a parallel taxiway of equal length, 30 parking stands, and a terminal building of 61,800㎡ have been finished, equipped with facilities to secure the airport's operation.
Officially started construction on October 19, 2019, the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. It is a significant project to promote the high-quality development of Guangdong's civil aviation and make Zhanjiang an engine driving economic growth in west Guangdong.
