With the spread of COVID-19 at a global level, new measures have been introduced at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport to greater enforce entry quarantine inspection, aiming to prevent imported cases and stem cross-border spread of the virus.

In addition to measuring the temperature of arriving passengers, the airport has introduced red, yellow and green categories to separate passengers and offer precise, targeted tests to prevent cross-infection. The measures were put into effect on March 11th.

At the same time, the Airport has strengthened and expanded disinfection facilities in public areas. For instance, disinfection will be carried out more frequently in special channels, temporary quarantine areas and waiting areas for passengers labeled ‘red’ or ‘yellow’.

Checked items of luggage on key flights will also be disinfected. The baggage compartment will be disinfected upon arrival, and the door will be opened 30 minutes after this is completed for baggage loading and unloading. Key flights will also be designated a fixed carousel for baggage claim, which will be immediately disinfected after one flight finished this process.
