Holiday spending further vitalizes Guangdong’s cultural tourism market

During the holiday, 44.386 million tourists visited Guangdong’s attractions: 15.219 million visitors in 4A tourist attractions, 2.072 million tourists in 14 sections of the historical trails, 1.104 million tourists in 13 red tourism scenery spots, 1.362 million visitors in 71 rural tourist spots and historic villages, and 1.886 million visitors in 75 key public cultural institutions.

Cultural tourism in urban and rural areas developed together during these seven days. The 13th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition was held in Zhuhai from September 28 to October 3, and more than 90,000 professional visitors and nearly 120,000 ordinary visitors attended the exhibition.

At the same time, rural tours and tours around the province with short distances and complete recreational facilities were very popular. Guangzhou had an estimated 5.702 million tourist arrivals to rural areas, expanding 31.52% from a year earlier and accounting for 49.44% of the total number of tourists in Guangzhou.

In addition, red tourism, intangible cultural tourism and night tours also stood out as popular choices among people during the holiday.

Guangzhou organized nearly 400 cultural and tourism activities

Guangzhou organized around 400 cultural and tourism activities centering on the six consumption factors of food, accommodation, transportation, tourism, shopping and entertainment. It received over 11 million tourist arrivals during the holiday.

Key scenic spots in Guangzhou launched various activities to meet the needs of citizens and tourists. 15 key scenic spots received nearly 2 million tourists, and the Pearl River Night Cruise attracted 164,400 tourists. Chimelong Water Park, Guangzhou Sunac Land, Pearl River Night Cruise as well as Beijing Road, Yongqing Square and other historical and cultural districts attracted high attention from local citizens and tourists.

Intangible cultural heritage as well as other public art and culture venues also attracted many tourists. At the Canton Tower, 100 intangible cultural heritage works from Guangzhou were on display. In Guangdong Museum, Guangzhou held an event for visitors to experience some intangible cultural heritage items that have been inscribed on the latest list of national intangible cultural heritage.

What’s more, according to the survey results during the holiday, 99.86% of the tourists were satisfied with Guangzhou’s tourism environment.
