A total of 15.887 million tourists travelled around Guangdong during this year's three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday (September 19-21), according to the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province.

Guangdong's cultural tourism market is gradually recovering

Due to the COVID-19 resurgence in some cities outside of Guangdong, people are suggested to stay put during the holiday, therefore, local tours and tours in and around the province were widely favored.

During the holiday, 3.632 million tourists visited 150 key scenic spots in Guangdong: 741,000 visitors in 15 5A tourist attractions, 739,000 tourists in 14 sections of the historical trails, 312,000 tourists in 13 red tourism scenery spots, 493,000 visitors in 71 rural tourist spots and historic villages, with 629,000 visitors in 75 key public cultural institutions.

Rural tourism and ecological leisure tourism were very popular. The rural tourism resources were fully utilized and various activities were carried out to celebrate the harvest, which met tourists' needs of rural tourism. Guangzhou had an estimated 1.9 million tourist arrivals to rural areas, accounting for 45.79% of the total number of tourists in Guangzhou.

Night tours were also welcome. People enjoyed watching the moon in theme parks, on river night cruises as well as via other night tourism projects. The Pearl River Night Cruise attracted 41,500 visitors during the holiday.

Guangzhou organized nearly 500 cultural and tourism activities

Guangzhou organized around 500 cultural and tourism activities centering on the six consumption factors of food, accommodation, transportation, tourism, shopping and entertainment. It received over 4 million tourist arrivals during the holiday, among which 2.7538 million tourists visited 27 cultural attractions in Guangzhou.

During the holiday, intangible cultural heritage as well as other public art and culture venues attracted many tourists. At the Canton Tower, 100 intangible cultural heritage works from Guangzhou were on display. What’s more, 13 municipal museums welcomed 35,300 visitors, and they held 38 exhibitions and activities, attended by about 58,000 participants. Guangzhou Opera House, Guangzhou Cultural Park and other venues also presented wonderful performances for local residents and tourists from afar.

In addition, according to the survey results during the holiday, 99.82% of the tourists were satisfied with Guangzhou's tourism environment, and the satisfaction rate of the tourists about Guangzhou's tourism services and facilities reached 98.01%.
