A total of 48 works are displayed, covering series of animations, comics, illustrations and picture books, with a variety of creative themes and forms of expression.

A painting highlighting medical workers and volunteers conducting nucleic acid tests in Guangzhou went viral on social media platforms some time ago. It took Chen Zhijie six days to finish drawing the scenes after the city launched mass testing for local residents in its efforts to prevent and control the coronavirus outbreak.

"I wanted to show how medical workers and volunteers have been working hard and how local residents cooperate with the government in fighting against the COVID-19 outbreak," he said.

The artwork is currently on display in an animation exhibition entitled "The Era of Dream-Chasing: The First Contemporary Animation Aesthetics Exhibition" at the Guangzhou Library. The exhibition started on August 6, and will last until August 17. A total of 48 works are displayed, covering series of animations, comics, illustrations and picture books, with a variety of creative themes and forms of expression.

At its opening ceremony on August 6, a list featuring top ten animated artworks in 2021 were unveiled, with ten artists who have been devoting themselves to creation for a long time being awarded.

Importantly, "Bing Dwen Dwen", the mascot of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, also sparkles in this exhibition. Born in Guangzhou, this mascot was created by the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and its shape is a perfect integration of traditional elements and modern designs. If you are crazy about animation, don't miss out on this fantastic visual feast!
