"The fearless and sheer tries, as well as the slow but determined steps, should not only appear at the rehearsal hall but also in our lives. Maybe that's why theater needs our young people." Hu Zhixin, a student from Jinan University, said in a speech at the opening ceremony of the 16th Youth Theatre Festival on November 22 in Guangzhou.

Hu's team, the Jimu drama club, won a place in the final of the festival this year. He said the team is largely funded by its members voluntarily. "But we never thought about giving up," he said, "It's not just because we love theater, it's because we need theater."

The 16th Youth Theatre Festival, a platform for young drama enthusiasts, is underway at the No. 13 Theatre of the Guangzhou Drama Art Center between November 22 and 28, featuring 18 final works singled out from 71 works of college drama clubs and non-professional drama clubs. In addition to the drama clubs from the Pearl River Delta region, there are also excellent teams from Beijing, Macao, Wuhan, Nanning, Chongqing and other cities participating in the festival this year.

The entries of this festival are more focused on the exploration of the spiritual world of human beings, which fully shows the younger generation's diversified interpretation of the world.

During the final, each work is comprehensively evaluated on-site in terms of the overall presentation of script, direction, performance and so on. All drama clubs present their unique charm, presenting a wonderful drama feast.
