The 2021 China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo (CITIE) will kick off in Guangzhou as scheduled on September 10 to 12, forming part of the Guangdong Culture and Tourism Autumn Season being launched at the same time, according to the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province.

The CITIE this year will set up 10 theme exhibition areas, featuring three major destination exhibition areas including China, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and overseas regions. The exhibition area of Chinese landscape consists of a number of cultural and tourist agencies from domestic provinces with abundant tourist resources, such as Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, Guizhou, Anhui, Jiangxi and Sichuan. The GBA exhibition area mainly displays the cultural and tourist products in this region. The international exhibition area invites a lot of countries including Thailand, Japan, South Korea and Portugal to showcase their tourism resources.

During the Expo, there will be travel agencies and enterprises from more than 30 countries and regions around the world and over 10 domestic provinces participating in the Expo in both online and offline formats.

By virtue of this Expo, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province plans to provide subsidies and coupons worth nearly 10 million RMB for the public to promote cultural and tourism development of the province. At 10 a.m. from September 10 to 12, you can receive the subsidies and coupons by logging into the APP UnionPay or searching the WeChat official account “广东文化旅游 (pinyin: guang dong wen hua lü you)”, and then go to the designated venues and shops to enjoy the discounts. Moreover, you can also get benefits by swiping your UnionPay card at the Expo.

The subsidies can be used in various tourist routes such as domestic routes, provincial routes as well as tourist routes featuring cultural heritage in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In addition, the subsidies are also available for buying cultural creative products and tickets to scenic spots, performances or reserving hotels and B&Bs.

As for how to make an appointment, search the WeChat official account named “广东旅博会 (pinyin: guang dong lü bo hui)” and register with your real name, and then you will receive a registration code. Before entry, you need to show your the health code, digital travel records as well as registration code and test body temperature. Please wear a mask all the time and follow the on-site anti-pandemic instructions.

Last but not least, the 2021 GHM Greater Bay Area Arts & Crafts Fair will also kick off from September 9 to 12 at the Canton Fair Complex, highlighting a variety of art & crafts works.
