Exhibition showcasing historical musical instruments underway in Guangzhou

Well-renowned Chinese traditional musician and instrument collector Fang Jinlong has been collecting Chinese and foreign folk instruments since 1979. Over the past 40 years or so, he has collected more than a thousand historical instruments.

An exhibition featuring more than 30 historical Chinese and foreign musical instruments from different dynasties and countries is underway at the Guangzhou Opera House from December 26.

Well-renowned Chinese traditional musician and instrument collector Fang Jinlong has been collecting Chinese and foreign folk instruments since 1979. Over the past 40 years or so, he has collected more than a thousand historical instruments.

With historical musical instruments as the focus, the exhibition selects part of Fang Jinlong's collection and some of his finest reproductions of musical instruments. You can appreciate Italian guitar made two hundred years ago, the unique Russian balalaika, the traditional Swedish musical instrument nyckelharpa, as well as a Yangqin from the Qing Dynasty and chimes from the Ming Dynasty.

Importantly, Fang Jinlong will also work together with the Grand Sino Philharmonic Orchestra to perform traditional Chinese music at the Guangzhou Opera House on December 28.

As the finale of their national tour in 2021, a concert is about to be staged in Guangzhou, where Fang Jinlong received the inspiration for his creation, providing audiences in the city with an audiovisual feast.

On the occasion of the approaching New Year, come to Guangzhou Opera House, and you can enjoy a visual feast provided by the exhibition while appreciating the classical Chinese pieces and ACG music.
