A documentary series ‘No Poverty Land’ hosted by Janis Chan has just been shown on Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) over two episodes and has attracted huge attention. The show tells many stories about poverty alleviation on the Chinese mainland that are not known to the world outside of China.
In order to show the production process of the show, TVB Controller in News and Information Services Wong Shuk Ming, Senior Current Affairs Manager Yuan Siu Ching, and Executive Producer Shum Ying accepted an interview and shared stories behind the scenes.

In ‘No Poverty Land’, TV presenter and actress Janis Chan observes the battle against poverty led by the Communist Party of China from the perspective of urban residents, makes the audience more likely to resonate. In a simple and sincere way, the program team through Janis Chan express what they have seen in China's poverty alleviation. Janis Chan communicated with the locals in Mandarin and expressed her feelings in Cantonese. In addition, the English version of the show is also dubbed by Janis Chan.
The original inspiration for the show came from Wong Shuk Ming's experiences in Ningxia and Guizhou. She was astounded by the local roads built on complex mountainous terrain and felt that Hong Kong people should see these to understand the changes in the country.

The team that has worked on ‘No Poverty Land’ also encountered dangers and difficulties during the filming of the show. In Litang County, the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Garze, southwest China's Sichuan Province, the team experienced altitude sickness due to the altitude of 4,300 meters. With the help of the local government, the team adjusted the schedule and finally succeeded in completing the shooting.
It is the wish of the team to allow Hong Kong people to understand more about the Chinese mainland. They want to show real life, the remote villages, and the journey out of poverty. The team described the poverty alleviation they saw in China as "a miracle", a success achieved by grassroots governments and local residents through years of hard work. Now they want to show this miracle to the world.
