Guangzhou shines at international forums

From Davos to Beijing, from Paris to Boao, an open, energetic and innovative Guangzhou is telling its story to the whole world.

1. The 2018 Guangzhou Annual Investment Conference

Themed of “Guangzhou, Your Best Choice” this year, the forum has attracted 2500 guests from over 1800 enterprises around the world during March 28th - 29th this year. Exchange and cooperation were centered in cutting-edge fields of new generation information technology, artificial intelligence and bio-pharmaceutical (IAB), etc.

It seems Guangzhou keeps capturing the attention of increasing investors from around the world. Now Guangzhou has investors from 130 countries and regions. 297 of Fortune 500 enterprises have already established 921 projects here, mostly focusing on the pillar manufacturing and modern service industries.


2. China Development Forum

As the first major state-level international conference held after the two sessions, China Development Forum, with this year’s theme being “China in the New Era” , was held in Beijing from March 24 to 26.

During the forum, CEOs from Global 500 companies visited Guangzhou Delegation and attended round table meetings to discuss Guangzhou city image promotion. William Cohen, CEO of Cohen Group said at the meeting that Guangzhou’s Fortune 500 forum last year has successfully presented an open, vibrant, modern, convenient and livable city image to the world”. “Guangzhou has long been an important role in China’s opening-up process”, said Joseph Stiglitz, Professor of Columbia University, USA and 2001 Nobel Laureate in Economics.

Local leading innovative companies also attended the forum to seek business opportunities.


3. Fortune Global Forum

The three-day Fortune Global Forum 2017 in Guangzhou drew to a close on Dec.8th, yet the heated discussion on "Openness and Innovation: Shaping the Global Economy" continues.

Guangzhou, a millennia-old commercial city which has always been open and innovative, is now taking the opportunity of holding the forum here to build a new platform for international exchanges between China and the rest of the world. The city, with its openness and innovation, contributes with Chinese wisdom and Guangzhou's experience to the globalization trends of innovative revolution, inclusive cooperation and sustainable development.

1180 drones lit up Guangzhou's night sky to celebrate the Fortune Global Forum. The drones were created by a Guangzhou-based brand, Ehang, and all of them were controlled by just one engineer with a computer.

4. Summer Davos 2017

“Guangzhou Night” was held on June 28th in China’s Dalian, the host city of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting, also known as Summer Davos 2017. About 400 guests, including Professor Klaus Schwab, Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, participated in the event, witnessing the unique charm of Guangzhou in the aspects of science and technology, culture, innovation, modernization, ecology, and delicacy.

5.World Route Development Forum

The 23rd World Route Development Forum closed on Sept. 24 in Barcelona, with the forum flag passed to Guangzhou, the host city for the forum next year. It will be another major event Guangzhou hosts after Fortune Global Forum.

Why Guangzhou

Guangzhou has long been the major traffic junction in South China and GD-HK-Macao Bay Area, and owns the natural genes to develop into a transportation hub.
