Guangzhou shined at Summer Davos Forum in Dalian

Guangzhou is the best practice of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, said Professor Klaus Schwab, Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum at the “Guangzhou Night” on the evening of June 28, 2017.

Professor Klaus Schwab revealed that next step he will invite Guangzhou to take part in the formulation of city evaluation system of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The “Guangzhou Night” was held in Liaoning’s Dalian, the host city of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2017, also known as Summer Davos 2017. About 400 guests, including Professor Klaus Schwab, participated in the event, witnessing the unique charm of Guangzhou in the aspects of science and technology, culture, innovation, modernization, ecology, and delicacy.

Guangzhou Night highlighted by “black tech”

Hybrid electric vehicle, unmanned and optional manned aircraft, ultra HD liquid crystal display... A batch of “black tech” products from Guangzhou made their appearance at the “Guangzhou Night” in front of world famous politicians and economists.

“Do you know who Klaus Schwab is?” “Of course. He is the Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum. He is very talented.”

Robot Xiao Man, developed by iFLYTEK, grasped the attention of present guests to closely interact with it. It was so “smart” that it solved all the questions raised by the guests. Du Lan, iFLYTEK’s Senior Vice President said Xiao Man also knows many topics such as Lingnan culture, Guangzhou’s myths and legends, and World Economic Forum.

GAC Group displayed two eye-catching self-owned brand automobiles. Zeng Qinghong, General Manager of GAC Group told the reporter that they will launch a new product with the function of artificial intelligence conversation in August. The product enables driver to control the engine and stereo via voice interaction. And the remote control is even more intelligent, with air-conditioning switch and temperature controlled by cell phone.


Cantonese culture amazed guests

Melodious Cantonese music, delicious Cantonese cuisine, artistic Lingnan paintings and bonsai... At the “Guangzhou Night”, a picture scroll of Guangzhou was unveiled, showing the city’s culture, ecology, and delicacy.

Inheritors of Chinese zither, handmade bronze ware, Kwon-Glazed Porcelain, redwood palace lantern and Lingnan painting were invited to present their skills, showing the long standing Lingnan culture and its inclusion as well as diversity.

Musicians performed classic Cantonese music pieces such as Raindrops Pattering On Banana Leaves and Higher Step By Step, showing Lingnan’s poetic scenery and positive spirit of the time, which moved the guests.

Traditional Cantonese snacks were provided at the night, such as freshly ground sesame paste, Shawan ginger milk pudding, Xiguan rice-flour noodle, Pantang water chestnut pudding, and steamed barbecued pork bun. New-style Lingnan delicacies were also in the spotlight, including banana puff pastry, coconut milk custard, coconut juice sago pineapple salad and litchi financier. All these delicacies received favorable reviews from the guests, most of whom thumbed up and said “wonderful” for Cantonese cuisine.

After the night, many guests expressed their hope for visiting Guangzhou in the future, to know more about the city and to develop all-round cooperation with Guangzhou.

Leonard Lee, Vice President of Airbus Group, told the reporter that his ancestral home is Taishan, Guangdong, and he has many friends and relatives that live in Guangzhou. Lee said he often visited Guangzhou and was deeply impressed by the city’s internationalization and its gathering of worldwide innovation and entrepreneurship talents.

Lee also showed great interest to the Cantonese music performed at the night, which made him miss the city a lot. He said that he will come back to Guangzhou real soon, because he believed there are lots of opportunities for his company to cooperate with Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone.
