On the morning of July 9, to boost cultural tourism consumption, the "Spending Summer in Qingyuan" event and the Qingyuan Cultural Tourism and Food Carnival, themed "Exploring Qingyuan, Celebrating Summer," were officially launched at Nanan Wharf in Qingyuan.
This event features food tasting, visits to cultural tourism spots, sports events, and exploration of intangible cultural heritage, aiming to provide citizens and tourists with a brilliant, immersive cultural tourism experience in Qingyuan this summer.
Roast chicken, braised chicken, baked chicken... Various cooking techniques of Qingyuan chicken were on full display at the event. During the opening ceremony, awards were given to the top 10 "Special Famous Qingyuan Chicken Dishes" and the top 20 "Special Flavored Qingyuan Chicken Delicacies."
Qingyuan chicken is the first geographical indication product for live poultry in Guangdong and one of the earliest cases of domestic geographical indication protection for live poultry.
Before the event, the "Special Qingyuan Chicken Dishes" selection activity began in May this year. Centered around "Qingyuan chicken" dishes, it attracted various Qingyuan chicken restaurants in the city to participate. Ultimately, 30 restaurants stood out, presenting over 10 cooking methods and flavors such as boiled chicken slices, soy sauce chicken, roast chicken, braised chicken, and baked chicken, further enhancing the great reputation of Qingyuan chicken.
During the opening ceremony, Huang Cuishan, Deputy Director of Qingyuan Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports, stated that this summer, Qingyuan has prepared over 90 cultural tourism and sports activities for the "Spending Summer in Qingyuan" events, including the "Exploring Qingyuan with Sports Events" themed series and public cultural activities. Tourists from near and far are sincerely invited to visit Qingyuan and taste its unique flavors. Colorful cultural tourism activities for summer await, including exploring the Beijiang River, going rafting, visiting Chimelong, savoring Qingyuan chicken, drinking Yingde Black Tea, and watching the 15th National Games.
