Since June 17, 2025, the 240-hour visa-free transit policy has entered its seventh month. At Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, it has benefited over 10,000 passengers—an increase of nearly 90% compared to the same period last year, when the maximum stay was 144 hours.
Most travelers come from Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas, with nearly half being tourists who use Guangzhou as their first stop to explore the city's urban charm.
On June 12, 2025, the National Immigration Administration announced that Indonesia has been added to the list of eligible countries, bringing the total number of participating nations to 55.
While the policy offers greater convenience, travelers are reminded to ensure they meet all eligibility criteria to avoid potential denial of entry.
According to immigration authorities, permits will not be issued in the following cases:
l Your international travel document is valid for less than 3 months.
l There are visa refusal stamps from Chinese visa authorities on your document.
l You have a record of illegal entry/exit, unlawful residence, or illegal employment in China within the past five years.
