French pianist Richard Clayderman will hold a concert in Jiangmen on July 12, marking his latest performance in a country he has visited more than 50 times throughout his career. The event will take place at Xinhui Sports Center in this southern Chinese city.
The 71-year-old musician, active for over four decades, has performed in more than 3,000 concerts globally since rising to fame with his 1976 recording "Ballade pour Adeline."
Clayderman gained significant popularity in China during the 1990s, when his accessible piano arrangements introduced many to Western instrumental music. His repertoire typically includes adaptations of Chinese melodies alongside film themes and original compositions.
For this concert, organizers confirm the usual audience interactions, where attendees present flowers during performances. Tickets range from 280 yuan to 1,580 yuan across multiple seating tiers.
Clayderman's characteristic style stems from his long-term collaboration with French composers Paul de Senneville and Olivier Toussaint. His concerts regularly feature reinterpretations of popular soundtracks, including selections from well-known films.
Clayderman maintains commercial success with 340 certified gold and platinum records sold worldwide. His ongoing tour continues a trend of frequent appearances in China that have drawn over 2 million audience members nationally.
