China Southern Airlines inaugurated a new direct flight between Guangzhou and Almaty on June 25, 2025, enhancing connectivity between China and Kazakhstan. The inaugural flight CZ3083 departed from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 16:14, carrying 145 passengers, and arrived in Almaty at 20:10 local time.
The new service operates three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Outbound flights depart from Guangzhou at 13:50, arriving in Almaty at 18:00, while return flights leave Almaty at 20:00, reaching Guangzhou at 05:15 the next day. The Wednesday flight schedule is slightly adjusted, with departures at 16:05 from Guangzhou and arrivals at 20:10 in Almaty.
Almaty, located in southeastern Kazakhstan, is the country's largest city and a vital economic and cultural hub. The new route aims to facilitate increased trade, tourism, and business exchanges between China and Kazakhstan.
This addition brings the total number of China Southern's direct flights between Guangzhou and Almaty to four per week, complementing existing services operated by Air Astana.
