The Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Transportation has announced that the dedicated cargo terminal for Macao International Airport in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin is set to be completed by the end of 2026 and begin operations in mid-2027.
Jointly developed by Macao International Airport and COSCO Shipping Logistics & Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., the 700-million-yuan project will span 66,700 square meters in Hengqin. Construction began in May this year with foundational soil treatment works.
Once operational, the hub will enable pre-clearance and cargo handling processes to take place in Hengqin before goods are transported to Macao International Airport.
