Foreign-related policy promotion meeting held in Guangzhou's Nansha

On July 5, a foreign-related policy promotion meeting was held at the Consultative Committee on Guangdong-Hong Kong Cooperation (Guangzhou Nansha) Service Center. 

This meeting aimed to help foreign residents and foreign-related enterprises better understand relevant policies for working and living in China. 

During the event, the policy interpretation and Q&A sessions attracted active participation from more than 40 foreign residents.

Mr. Jani, an international volunteer from the Nansha Jiaomenhe International Neighborhood, hosted the event. As a core member of the volunteer team and a representative of the foreign residents, he articulated their need for policy information and ensured that the policies were explained in an accessible and helpful way.

Tax Service: Policies on individual income tax

Staff from the Nansha District Tax Service of State Taxation Administration explained the basic policies about individual income tax and the process for annual tax filings in detail. They also answered common questions from foreign residents regarding tax-exempt subsidies and special deductions, to help them calculate taxes accurately and enjoy available benefits.

Social Insurance: Participation in social insurance scheme

Staff from the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Nansha District explained the coverage, eligibility criteria, and procedures for foreign residents to apply for participation in the social insurance scheme. In particular, they also addressed practical concerns such as the impact of discontinued social insurance payments, to thus help foreign residents feel more at ease while living and working in Nansha.

Medical Insurance: Tips on medical insurance reimbursement

Staff from the Nansha Branch of the Guangzhou Municipal Medical Insurance Center explained the coverage and procedures for medical insurance reimbursement. They also provided a detailed explanation of how to use maternity insurance, which is of particular concern to foreign residents. A live demonstration of the medical insurance app was given, which received enthusiastic feedback.

Rental Housing Management: Worry-free living for foreign residents

Staff from the Grid Service Management Center of Nansha Subdistrict explained regulations regarding rental property registrations and in-home inspections. This helped foreign residents better understand their rights and responsibilities for renting, to thereby avoid disputes caused by information anomalies.

Sharing Experience with Real-life Cases

The event featured a special experience-sharing session for foreign residents. Several foreign residents who have lived in Nansha for a long time shared practical tips on company registration, provident fund contributions, and house renting, which is of great help for newcomers to Nansha.

Face-to-Face Q&A

The final Q&A session allowed foreign residents to engage in in-depth, one-on-one discussions with staff from various authorities based on their individual needs. Many participants said, “The policies were explained clearly, and the staff answered questions patiently. They truly addressed our concerns!”

Thanks to the joint efforts of the relevant authorities, the Nansha Jiaomenhe International Neighborhood, and bilingual volunteers, this event successfully helped foreign residents understand Nansha’s foreign-related policies, thus serving as a bridge between the government and foreign residents. They highly praised the event and added that it was extremely helpful for their work and life in Nansha.

In the future, the Nansha Jiaomenhe International Neighborhood will continue to optimize its services for foreign residents. By offering more convenient services such as multilingual policy handbooks, online consultation, and community events, its goal is to help foreign residents work and live in Nansha with greater ease and convenience.

The event was jointly hosted by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Guangzhou Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone, the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Nansha District, the Nansha District Tax Service of State Taxation Administration, Nansha Branch of the Guangzhou Municipal Medical Insurance Center, and the Grid Service Management Center of Nansha Subdistrict, and it was organized by the Nansha Jiaomenhe International Neighborhood.
