On the morning of July 5, the Fourth Fisherfolk Culture Festival opened with vibrant energy in Jintouhu Village, Huicheng District, Huizhou, drawing crowds to celebrate the region's rich fishing heritage.
Held under the theme "Fishing Frenzy, Fishing for Happiness: Tracing Fisher Village Culture with Zhu Zhishan," the festival featured a range of traditional and modern activities, including a Dongjiang River fishing competition, fisher team parade, fishing commencement ceremony, "Fish King" auction, and cultural dance performances.
With over 300 years of history, Jintouhu Village in Jiangnan Subdistrict is a renowned fishing community along the Dongjiang River. The event revived ancient rituals—such as flag-raising and drum-led boat parades—symbolizing blessings for safety and a good harvest, while showcasing the village's cultural resilience and new vitality.
Jiangnan Subdistrict has actively promoted rural revitalization by leveraging water resources, cultural heritage, and natural beauty. The transformation of historic fishing villages like Jintouhu into cultural tourism destinations is helping build a greener, more vibrant, and livable countryside.
