On June 30, the "Xiqiao Mountain Culture Channel," the official online platform of the South Xiqiao Mountain Culture International Communication Base, was launched on the South News Network and its app. The channel aims to share the stories of Foshan Nanhai's Xiqiao Mountain Culture globally, enhancing the international profile of Nanhai's cultural tourism, city image, and industrial brands.

Nanhai District in Foshan City is a vital birthplace and cultural heartland of Guangfu culture, long celebrated as Guangdong's "capital county." With its rich heritage, scenic ecology, and vibrant folk traditions, Nanhai stands out as a cultural landmark. At its core is Xiqiao Mountain, hailed as the "beacon of Pearl River Civilization." During the Ming and Qing dynasties, renowned scholars like Zhan Ruoshui, Huo Tao, and Fang Xianfu established academies there, earning it titles such as the "Mountain of Neo-Confucianism" and "Xiqiao of the World."

At the mountain's base lies a lush network of waterways and farmland. In the Northern Song Dynasty, Nanhai's ancestors built the Sangyuanwei irrigation system, which sustained the region's rice and fish cultivation for centuries. Recognized as a World Irrigation Heritage site, UNESCO praised it as "a rare beauty in the world and a model of a virtuous cycle."
In recent years, Nanhai has actively promoted a humanistic economy, highlighting the enduring charm of its thousand-year-old heritage. Central to this effort is the promotion of Xiqiao Mountain culture and the development of a distinctive cultural IP.

Against this backdrop, South and Nanhai District have jointly established the Xiqiao Mountain Culture International Communication Base and launched the "Xiqiao Mountain Culture Channel." This initiative positions Xiqiao Mountain culture as a strategic entry point for global engagement, leveraging the strength of Lingnan cultural heritage to enhance the international visibility of Nanhai's urban and industrial brands. It marks a key step in elevating Nanhai's role within Guangdong's international communication framework—propelling Nanhai culture onto the global stage and advancing the transformation from a local Lingnan icon to a world-recognized name.
