Guangdong has ramped up efforts to better regulate the online business environment by implementing 20 measures, including addressing online defamation, extortion, and malicious marketing that harm businesses and entrepreneurs.
Announced on June 26 by the province's Office of the Cyberspace Affairs Commission and 14 other provincial departments, the measures aim to improve the digital environment and support a healthier business climate.
According to the announcement, direct communication channels between government bodies and key enterprises will be established as part of a concerted effort to enhance corporate risk management capabilities and foster sustainable development.
The new mechanism prioritizes streamlined policy support and prompt responses to market entities' concerns, adhering to the principle of "Nuisance-Free Operation, Response to Every Request."
Moreover, the measures target so-called "black mouths"—online accounts or influencers who spread false or damaging content about companies for profit or leverage. Key issues include fabricating negative claims about product quality or financial practices.
Guangdong excelled in digital government development regarding e-service projects and funding, according to the China Internet Development Report 2024, released during the World Internet Conference (WIC) last year. The provincial government has advanced e-governance by introducing one-stop government service platforms and virtual public services to enhance administrative efficiency and modernize governance.
