Guangzhou's Longxue Island powers Nansha's port-neighborhood economy

On June 30, the China (Guangzhou Nansha) High-Quality Port-Neighborhood Economy Development Conference was held, where 21 projects worth nearly 7 billion yuan were signed on-site.

Attendees visited the Nansha International Logistics Center and the automated Phase Four terminal of Nansha Port on Longxue Island. The logistics center is China's largest port-neighborhood warehouse complex. Its north zone, spanning over 290,000 sqm of high-bay storage, is set to become a major consolidation and distribution hub for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The south zone, with a capacity of 230,000 tonnes, is the country's largest port-adjacent cold chain facility, supporting Nansha Port's role as a leading entry point for cherries and durians.

The Phase Four terminal is the world's first fully automated port using Intelligent Guided Vehicles (IGVs) for horizontal transport. With 158 IGVs—the largest IGV fleet at a single terminal in China—it achieves peak handling efficiency of 240 standard containers per hour.

During the signing event, the Guangzhou Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone Administration signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Sinotrans Logistics Co., Ltd. In addition, the Intelligent Power Equipment Export Base project by Guangdong Keyuan Electric Co., Ltd. was signed for Longxue Subdistrict, featuring a digital factory to advance the "Made in Nansha, Sold Globally" vision.

As the core of Nansha Port, Longxue Subdistrict is accelerating Phase V terminal construction, expanding international multi-purpose terminal operations, and promoting advanced port-neighborhood manufacturing and port-industry-city integration.
