Grand Dunhuang exhibition to debut in Shenzhen's Nanshan District

"Dunhuang Splendors: Culture and Art Exhibition of Mogao Grottoes" will be held at the Nanshan Museum in Shenzhen from July 26 to November 23, 2025. Ticket prices have now been officially announced.

The exhibition launch and ticket release ceremony took place on July 5, 2025, in Nanshan, Shenzhen.

This marks the largest-ever Dunhuang-themed exhibition in South China, featuring the most diverse collection of exhibits and the highest number of cultural relics on display.

Cave 3 and Cave 285, normally not open to the public, will be digitally reproduced, offering rare access not available at the site itself.

The exhibition features 205 sets of valuable relics, including several national treasures on public display for the first time. Digital restorations of previously inaccessible caves will also be showcased.

The exhibition will also feature an appearance by "Jiayao," a virtual Dunhuang figure, who will interact with visitors in Shenzhen. You'll be snapping photos non-stop—better clear some storage!

Still craving more after your visit? We've got you covered! Over 1,000 cultural and creative products developed by the Dunhuang Academy will be available for purchase, allowing you to take Dunhuang aesthetics home. Let the wonder continue beyond the gallery!

During the exhibition, renowned Dunhuang scholars will be invited to deliver expert lectures and host regular public workshops on Dunhuang color palettes, mural restoration, clay painting, movable-type printing, and Dunhuang paper-cutting.

A series of cultural and artistic lectures will be offered, alongside weekend family and costume-themed events. Themed events related to different sectors and festivals will also be organized, presenting Dunhuang's rich cultural and artistic heritage in an engaging and well-structured manner.

Don't miss this cultural feast if you're interested!
