A multilingual media platform called South, rebranded from GDToday, under China's Nanfang Media Group, was officially launched on July 3, aiming to enhance the country's international communication efforts from its southern province of Guangdong.
At the launch ceremony, Joyce Lee, Executive Chairman and Secretary General of the Singapore South China Business Association, shared her business experience in Guangdong and her cooperation with this media outlet in the past.
“Previously, I supported Singaporean businesses landing here. Now, I help Chinese companies go global—to Singapore and to ASEAN. So my expectations are now very high,” she said.
As Guangdong's leading platform for international communication and its primary source for the world to learn about the province, South delivers accurate, timely news and rich audiovisual content in English, Portuguese, French, and other languages, as well as Cantonese. Rooted in Guangdong Province and deeply engaged with southern China, South also organizes diverse cultural exchange activities, connecting local narratives with global audiences. Formerly known as GDToday, it now stands as a leading regional hub for international communication in southern China and a key media voice for the Global South.
