IBM, Zeiss...firms invest 50 billion RMB in Huangpu projects

19 projects were signed off on and 32 projects started construction at a grand ceremony in Huangpu on May 28th These projects cover areas ranging from IAB, NEM and advanced manufacturing, to professional services.

With a total investment of 50 billion RMB, the projects’ output and revenue are expected to reach 300 billion RMB.

International magnates such as Zeiss, Siemens, IBM and Nielsen presented at the signing ceremony and have landed new projects in Huangpu.

For example, Zeiss will invest 1 billion in a vision&optics project, aiming to establish a new optical factory which will be the world’s largest high-end eye care equipment manufacturing center.

Lu Yunlei, Plant Manager of Carl Zeiss Vision, said Zeiss has already established 5 projects in Huangpu and is confident about the district’s development.

“We have been in the Guangzhou Development District for 2 decades now and maintain positive growth every year. Especially in recent years, development has accumulated with a growth rate of more than 20%,” ,” he added, “the advantageous policies in Huangpu are attractive.”

A large number of domestic enterprises also signed new projects during the ceremony. Comba Telecom, a wireless solutions provider, will build a 5G industrial park at the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City with a total investment of 2.7 billion yuan, and land high-tech projects such as smart antenna manufacturing and 5G technology.

“The Guangzhou Development District has been improving its business environment through the years. And Comba is a beneficiary of its support in terms of policy, legal reform and resources,” said Zhang Yuejun, President of Comba. Founded in 1997 in the district, Comba Telecom was listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange in 2003 and has become one of the top 3 wireless solutions providers worldwide.


The software CBD project

Meanwhile, the district held a ceremony for groundbreaking on 18 new projects. With an investment of 2 billion yuan, the China Software CBD headquarters is the largest of the 18.

The software project aims to serve the Guangdong-Hong King-Macao Bay Area, and gather global software enterprises involved in the block chain business. Once completed, the project is expected to introduce 500 new enterprises and create 40 thousand jobs, generating a 200-billion-yuan output.

According to Huangpu district Government, more enterprises will launch their projects in the district during the second half of this year. It's predicted that a total of 141 projects with a 42-billion-yuan investment will be underway over the year.
