The Ancient Post Road in Lingnan refers to the various routes that were used to deliver documents, transport goods, materials and people to ‘Lingnan’. Literally meaning ‘south of the ridges’, ‘Lingnan’ is a historic definition of the geographic area and cultures covered by China’s most southerly provinces.
The Lingnan post road was a major channel through which Guangdong traded and exchanged both Cantonese and international culture with other provinces in China. It includes both land and water routes, a state highway and privately constructed path.
The exhibition contains over 300 exhibits about the post road, the movement of people and trade, the history of Guangdong’s culture and charm it held for historic tourists.
