Ma Xingrui meets foreign consular corps in Guangzhou

“At present 59 countries have set up their Consulates General in Guangzhou, and I appreciate the contributions from the consulates general to cooperation between the two sides,” said Ma Xingrui, Governor of Guangdong Government, when meeting consular corps in Guangzhou on June 16th.

Ma introduced the basic situation about Guangdong’s development in economy and society. He emphasized that Guangdong would spare no efforts to stick to opening-up, make itself deeply involved in “Belt and Road” Initiative and more focus on reforms relating to people’s livelihood.

Ma pointed out that a special communication mechanism has been formed between Guangdong and foreign consulates general in Guangzhou for years, and consulates general have played key roles in advancing win-win cooperation in all fields. He hoped that in future bilateral cooperation in business, education, culture and tourism will be deepened, especially in cross-border e-commerce and sister city relationship.

Ma also actively responded to topics such as “Made in China 2025”, IP cooperation, “Belt and Road” Initiative and enhancing cooperation between Guangdong and those sending countries. Those topics were all raised by members of consular corps.

Mariella Molina, the head of consular corps and also the Consul General of Ecuador in Guangzhou, echoed to Ma’s words with her total agreements. She said that consular corps would continue to take the cooperation geared to a win-win result in all fields between Guangdong and their sending countries, particularly in business, scientific innovation, education and culture.
