Turkish Airlines introduced Turkish culture and classic cuisine to Guangzhou citizens

2018 is the Turkish Tourism Year in China. To promote Turkey to Chinese visitors, Turkish travel agencies introduced nearly 20 Turkish traval agencies to Guangzhou for in-depth cooperation with Guangdong travel agencies. Ms. Ela Atakan, Corporate Affiars Director of TÜRSAB, Travel Agency Association of Turkey expressed, with the long history of Turkey, the country has such an abundant culture. There are many stories behind the famous places, such as the Saint Sophia Cathedral, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, and the historical sites of the Ottoman Empire, where are worthwhile for travelers to visit.

Turkish Airlines Guangzhou signed a cooperation memorandum with local travel agency Guang Zhi Lv.

In addition to its cultural treasure, Turkish food also attracts a large amount of visitors around the world. Turkish cuisine originated from central Asia, absorbing the essence of the east and the west. It is regarded as a star, and it is one of the 3 major cuisines in the world. The main ingredients of Turkish food include meat, vegetable and beans. Besides, herb is popular in Turkey, and local people are in favor of spicing their food. At the event of the day, Turkish cooks presented some classic food from Turkey - kebab, pancake and desserts.

Kebab is a kind of grilled meat. The cook selected marbled beef or mutton and slice them, then roasted the meat with an iron bar. The freshly cooked kebab is very coveted, and the juiciness is impressive. People are fond of enjoying kebab with tomato and green peppers.

Turkish pancake is severed as the staple food at the event. Cover the pancake with hot cream or dip it into soup will be tasty. It is also popular if toasting the pancake with cheese, minced meat and other vegetables. Moreover, local desserts such as pistachio ice-cream and crunchy candy are in favor by the guests.


Turkish Airlines acts as the linking bond of China and Eurasia, and it undertakes the responsibilities of promoting cultural exchange between Turkey and China. Mucahit Mehmet Kiraz, General Manager of Turkish Airlines Guangzhou delivered a remark at the event, “We’ll be so pleased to welcome our Chinese visitors to Turkey for our world famous cuisine including numerous traditional delicious tastes. By taking the flight of Turkish Airlines, you will have the chance to taste Turkish food in the air, besides visiting Turkey and experiencing those delicious flavours on site.”

The officer from Turkish Culture and Tourism Office introduced, Turkish Food Presentation is the first promotion event in 2018. During the Turkish Tourism Year in China, there will be more activities and citizens are welcome to participate.

The Turkey Promotion and Turkish Food Presentation is organized by Turkish Culture and Tourism Office, and hosted by Turkish Airlines launched today at Guangzhou Garden Hotel. Representatives from the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office, Turkish Consulate General Guangzhou, Turkish Airlines, TÜRSAB - Travel Agency Association of Turkey, as well as Guangdong travel agencies attended the event.
