ASEAN students gathered in FAST 2017 in Guangzhou

Last weekend, hundreds of ASEAN students from different universities in Guangzhou participated in the biggest sports tournament for ASEAN students in Guangzhou.

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN, the Federation of Indonesian Students in Guangzhou (FAMIG) and the Malaysian Students Association in Guang Dong (MSAGD) worked together to organize FAST (FAMIG Sports Tournament)2017, the biggest sports tournament for ASEAN students in Guangzhou.

With this event, it is hoped that more connection and networking are made among ASEAN nations, and to strengthen the bond among ASEAN students in Guangzhou, in accordance with ASEAN’s motto “One Vision. One Identity. One Community.”

On the 29th and 30th of April 2017, students from Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia participated in futsal, basketball and badminton tournaments.

This event wouldn’t have been successful without the support from the ASEAN Consulates General in Guangzhou and the contribution from our sponsors Asia Symbol (Guangdong) Paper Co. Ltd, Perfect (China) Co. Ltd, 千岛日报, Bao & Bun, and Pocari Sweat. FAMIG would like to thank the Consul General of the Philippines, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Indonesia for coming to the opening ceremony of the event. Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Guangzhou, Ratu Silvy Gayatri, was proud of the event as it can strengthen the bond between Indonesia and other ASEAN countries.

The support from Asia Symbol reflects the core spirit of its business philosophy-to operate in a manner that is “good for the community, good for the country and good for the company.”

The support from Perfect also reflects the philosophy behind the company’s well established charity work “contributing back to society with what it gives to us.”
