Hop on Guangzhou Metro Lines 10 & 12 for a weekend out

As the newly opened Guangzhou Metro Line 10 and the east and west sections of Line 12 begin trial operations, exploring the city has never been easier. From lakeside strolls to art museums and lush botanical gardens, here are some must-see destinations along the new lines.

Donghu Station (Line 10, future interchange with Line 12)

Dongshan Lake Park (东山湖公园)

Just 500 meters from the station, Dongshan Lake Park offers a serene urban retreat with its clear waters and dense greenery. Shaded walkways under century-old trees provide a tranquil escape, and summer flowers are now in full bloom, which is perfect for a morning stroll or sunset photo session.

Guangzhou-Kowloon Railway Memorial Park (广九铁路纪念园)

This park site marks the starting point of the historic Guangzhou–Kowloon Railway, opened in 1911. Visitors can explore vintage green carriages, steam locomotives, railway tracks and sleepers, as well as other historic exhibits that recreate the station's early 20th-century ambiance, ideal for history buffs.

Binjiang East Road Station (Line 10)

Golden Coast Water Park (黄金海岸水上乐园)
Golden Coast Water Park, Guangzhou's first water park, is just steps away from the station. Covering over 15,000 square meters along the Pearl River, it features a massive 3,000-square-meter wave pool and numerous aquatic attractions with stunning views of the Canton Tower. It will be a fun day out for families.

Ersha Island Station (Line 12)

Xinghai Concert Hall (星海音乐厅)
Named after renowned Chinese composer Xian Xinghai, this world-class venue boasts exceptional acoustics and stunning design. From international symphony orchestras to local ensembles, the hall promises an unforgettable auditory experience.

Guangdong Museum of Art (Ersha Island Venue) (广东美术馆二沙岛馆)
This national key art institution houses diverse collections, covering classical Chinese painting, oil painting, paper-cutting, sculpture, pottery, and avant-garde installations. Exhibitions here explore both Guangdong's cultural heritage and contemporary urban life, making it a visual retreat.

Various parks on the island 
Ersha Island is home to numerous parks such as Hongcheng Park, Chuanqi Park, Art Park, and Sports Park. Whether it's sunbathing, camping, or a simple walk among the trees, this green oasis offers a refreshing urban break.

 Chigang Pagoda Station (Line 12)

Guangzhou Museum of Art (广州艺术博物院(广州美术馆))
Just one minute from Exit B, this museum presents contemporary art, cultural relics, and calligraphy exhibitions in a breathtaking architectural space. At noon, sunlight streams through the central dome and illuminates the grand piano in the atrium—visitors might even catch an impromptu live performance.

Guangzhou Gymnasium Station (Line 12)

Yunxi Botanical Garden (云溪植物园)
With more than 1,300 plant species, including 20 first-class nationally protected ones, Yunxi Botanical Garden is a paradise for nature lovers. Now is the best time to see 150 varieties of lotus flowers blooming across scenic ponds. Meanwhile, wampi fruits are also in season, and visitors can taste special summer treats made with this freshly harvested fruit at the garden's Flower City Art Museum.
