On September 25th, the Faculty of Engineering Technology of Hasselt University was host to a delegation from the Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT), consisting of prof. Chen Xin, president, prof. Zhang Yongkang, dean of the School of Electromechanical Engineering and prof. Wei Xin, General Manager of Assets Management Corporation.
This visit is the next step in the development of the cooperation between both universities following the Memory of Understanding which was signed in December 2016 in Guangzhou.
During the day the delegation visited the different research groups of the faculty and discussed with dean prof. Marc D’Olieslaeger, vice-dean prof. Roos Peeters and several professors possible collaborations such as student and teacher exchange and joint research projects. Several common grounds were found between the educational programs and research activities of both universities (a.o. in the domains of Civil and Transportation Engineering and Materials and Energy).
As a first concrete step in the collaboration, GDUT is very interested in sending students to obtain their PhD within the faculty of Engineering Technology of Hasselt University, while the latter sees an opportunity to send master students to do part of their study at GDUT.
Both parties are looking forward to further elaborate their collaboration and to extend their memory of understanding to a more concrete level.
