The 2017 Guangzhou International Floral Art Exhibition and the World Flower Council (WFC) Annual Summit kicked off on September 19 at the Guangzhou Opera House.

This is the first time the WFC Annual Summit has been held in China. It is also the first time for Guangzhou to host the International Floral Art Exhibition which is one of the series of events for World Cities Day as well.

With the theme of “Fragrant Embrace”, the event welcomes florists and guests from about 32 countries and regions as well as Guangzhou citizens. During the exhibition, about 200 floral design works are on display at the Guangzhou Opera House, including: “My Country”, “A Myriad of Vibrant Blooms”, “Floral Embrace” and “In Bloom”.

Apart from Guangzhou Opera House, there are also ongoing floral events and exhibitions at Yuexiu Park and the Second Children’s Palace. Thousands of beautiful flowers, bonsai and mosaicultures are on display in these venues for free.

According to reports, Ma Wentian, deputy mayor of Guangzhou said, “By taking the opportunity presented by the exhibition, Guangzhou is embracing the world flower culture and building a professional, high-end international art and cultural platform and will continue to make great efforts in the decade ahead to make Guangzhou world-famous as a flower city.”
