The world's first import-themed national-level expo, the China International Import Expo (CIIE), opened in Shanghai on Nov 5. The number of Guangdong enterprises seeking procurement reached 6,023, of which manufacturing and production service companies accounted for more than 60 percent.
Procurement will focus on consumer electronics and home appliances, clothing and consumer goods, smart and high-end equipment, food and agricultural products, medical equipment and healthcare services.
A total of 172 countries, regions and international organizations from five continents will showcase their development achievements and international brand at the expo. More than 3,600 companies will hold discussions and seek common development with purchasers from China and overseas.
To provide thorough coverage of the import fair, Guangzhou Daily has set up a special newsroom at the fair's news center, becoming the only media outlet from Guangdong to do so.
