Winners of the First Cross-Straits Youth Creative Short Film Contest announced!

On October 26th, the award ceremony for the First Cross-Straits Youth Creative Short Film Contest was held in RockHouse, Guangzhou. The three final winners were decided and their entries were aired to applause from the audience.

Lin Yongcheng from Taiwan got the most votes and took home first place. Lin shot a story about the inheritance and development of herbal tea at the Guangzhou Shennong Caotang Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The first prize was a 10,000 RMB cash prize, and Lin said he feels very happy and thanks the local guide who helped him complete the project in Guangzhou.

According to a media briefing for the contest earlier in the week, the top 10 contestants began their final three-day-two-night filming challenge on the evening of October 23rd.

They selected their own theme from topics such as “innovation”, “integration”, “youth”, “inheritance” and “convenience”, as well as the locations to be shot under the respective themes.

About the short film contest

On the theme of “Change”, the First Cross-Straits Youth Creative Short Film Contest required all participants to submit their 20-180 second short story to show enormous changes have taken place in China.

This kind of contest provides an opportunity for cultural exchange and idea sharing between youths in Guangdong and Taiwan.

During the preliminary rounds (held between April and September), it received a total 430 entries from both Guangdong and Taiwan.

The contest was hosted by Newsgd.com, Nanfang Plus App and United Daily News Group, with the guidance of Guangdong International Culture Association, Guangdong Province Cross-Strait Exchange Promotion Association, and Guangdong Youth Federation, United Daily News Group Cultural Foundation.
