——The Second 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Forum on International Communication to be held on Sept.19th in Zhuhai, Guangdong
On September 11th, the Guangdong Provincial Government Press Office held a news conference on the preparation work and the latest developments along the Second 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Forum on International Communication. This year's forum, to be held in Zhuhai, Guangdong on September 19th-21st will be co-hosted by China Media Group and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, and undertook by the Guangdong Provincial Government Press Office and the Zhuhai Municipal People's government.
The vice president of China Radio International of the China Media Group, Hu Bangsheng, says that after the 19th CPC National Congress, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, with breakthroughs made in the maritime silk road construction and China displaying a new image on the world stage. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of China's Reform and Opening Up policy, holding the forum is of great realistic significance. As a pioneer and pilot of the Reform and Opening up, Guangdong Province, at the core area of the Maritime Silk road, will definitely play a leading role in China's new round of expanding its opening up to the outside world. Under the international situation of rising unilateralism and trade protectionism, China Media Group, as one of the influential media organizations on the international stage, will firmly and clearly voice Chinese opinions, unswervingly promote economic globalization and free trade, jointly build an open world economic system and help build a community of shared future for mankind by enhancing cooperation through communication, and boosting prosperity through opening up.
The Executive Chief of the Publicity Departmentof CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Bai Jie, says the forum is focused on Guangdong's future developments and themed New Era, New Silk Road, New Image. It will be also themed around comments by President Xi Jinping that Guangdong is an important gateway not only for our country to display the achievements of Reform and Opening Up, but also for the international community to observe our Reform and Opening Up. The forum will fully demonstrate the achievements Guangdong has made in Reform and Opening Up in the past four decades as well as the positive results in constructing a new opening-up pattern to the outside world, systematically present the measures taken and achievements made by Guangdong in the past five years towards the Belt and Road Initiative, positively promote the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, jointly discuss the Province's new ideas, new actions and new responsibilities in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, deepen the cooperation and exchanges between Chinese mainstream media and their international counterparts and further elevate Guangdong's international reputation and influence.
The China (Guangdong) International Communication Main Forum of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, as well as three Parallel Sub-Forums: the International Communication of Guangdong Brands, Technological Innovation Leads to High Quality Development and The Guangdong-HongKong-Macao Greater Bay Area Shares Opportunities in the New Era will be established.
Some prestigious guests attending the forum include the former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, the 2011 Nobel Prize winner for Economics, Thomas J. Sargent, the vice president of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Zhu Yeyu. In addition, this year's forum will provide a series of activities, such as campus exchanges by the Nobel Prize winner, performances themed around the Maritime Silk Road, as well as a promotional conference for Zhuhai.
The forum will also publish the 2018 Report on Guangdong Enterprises Going Global Along the Belt and Road. Meanwhile, exhibitions covering books, intelligent manufacturing, cultural innovation, intangible cultural heritage and pictures will also be held. It's reported that over 1,000 delegates will attend the forum. Media outlets from countries and regions along the Belt and Road, as well as China's domestic media, will cover the forum.
