China Southern Airlines launched a new direct line to link Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong and Lahore of Pakistan on August 28th. This is China’s first direct air route linking Guangzhou and Pakistan.
The air route operates four times a week using a Boeing 737 MAX 8, according to the airline. The service runs every Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday as CZ6037/6038. The flight departs Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 17:35, and arrives in Lahore at 20:45(local time). The return flight leaves Lahore at 22:00, and arrives in Guangzhou the following day at 6:50AM.
According to Yang Qing, the chief attendant for the first flight, many passengers are businessmen traveling between the two countries frequently. Mr. Yang, a businessman launching his trade with Pakistani partners, introduced that “I’m traveling with the first flight to Lahore purposely. I need to go to Lahore two or three times every year. Previously I have to travel with foreign airlines and transfer in a third city. Now I can fly to Lahore directly with China Southern Airlines.”
Saddam Aziz is a PhD student in Shenzhen University and came to Guangzhou for the flight. “It is a very convenient choice, and I don’t need to transfer via Malaysia.”
Located in the junction of South Asian, Middle East and Middle Asia, Pakistan is a very important country alongside Belt & Road Initiative. With the special name of the “Garden City”, Lahore is a second largest city in Pakistan, and also the culture and art center. Now CS Air also runs Urumqi-Islamabad route, another direct flight linking China and Pakistan.
