On August 14th, a briefing on the 15th China International SME Fair (CISMEF) was held in Guangzhou. At present, almost 1,100 booths have been reserved by 28 countries, regions and organisations, including the United Arab Emirates, South Africa and Russia.
Held for 14 years, the CISMEF has become the largest international event dedicated to serving SMEs, said He Zuoxian, deputy director-general of Guangdong SME Bureau.
The 15th CISMEF will further promote cooperation between small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) from both China and around the world. Its themed exhibition, running from Oct 10th to 13rd, is scheduled to be held at the Poly World Trade Center Expo in Guangzhou.
From the beginning of this year, the event organizer has held promotional conferences in Guangzhou, Hong Kong and visited countries like Philippines, Vietnam to attract more exhibitors to the event.
The United Arab Emirates and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization are the two co-hosts of this year's fair.
It is the first time that CISMEF has partnered with with Middle Eastern countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
The UAE is China's largest export market and second largest trade partner among Arab countries. About 100 UAE enterprises in the fields of agriculture, innovation, manufacturing and health care will attend the event in October.
According to Rahma Abdul Rahman Alshamsi, Consul General of the UAE in Guangzhou, small and medium-sized enterprises have increasingly become a pillar of economic growth in the UAE, accounting for 60% of the the country’s GDP.
Since CISMEF is one of the largest fairs for SMEs in the World, UAE hopes to use this platform to showcase their enterprises’ business network and learn from other global participants.
UAE’s exhibition hall will be one of the highlights of this year’s CISMEF. Covering an area over 1,000 square meters, investment environment, tourism culture and featured products will be displayed to allow visitors to get a real feel for the country.
The most current exhibition by CISMEF, a home appliance exhibition, is to be held from Aug 23rd-26th, will focus on smart construction materials and home appliances, as well as energy efficient products and technology.
